Get Away and Get Inspired During a Hobbyist Retreat

Everyone knows it’s important to have a hobby, especially when it’s one that you share with a circle of friends. But getting together at your home bases to scrapbook, quilt, or do any kind of crafting can be hard to coordinate. That’s why a hobbyist retreat is such a fun and fulfilling idea!

Why Should I Plan a Hobbyist Retreat?

There are many reasons to plan a hobbyist retreat. But perhaps the three most important are:

  1. Lots of time to spend on your favorite activity and learn new tricks
  2. Chats, laughs, and fun with a great group of friends
  3. The chance to experience a one-of-a-kind destination

Where Can I Host my Hobbyist Retreat?

Before choosing a venue for your retreat, you’ll want to consider the number of people in your group, space requirements for your hobby, and what kinds of amenities you’d like to have available to the attendees.

This area offers many venues that are perfect for hosting a hobbyist retreat:

  • Santa’s Lodge offers conference rooms that will work for average-sized groups, but if you’re expecting a crowd, their Celebration Room can accommodate 100-300 guests. And with more than 160 guest rooms and an onsite restaurantthe lodge is an excellent all-in-one choice.
  • Corner House Bed & Breakfast has a gorgeous event barn available for groups of up to 250. The gorgeous rural setting will provide inspiration and encourage contemplation!
  • Saint Meinrad Archabbey is another excellent choice for groups wanting a peaceful retreat environment. Spaces are available for groups of 15-300, the Guest House and Retreat Center offers more than 50 guest rooms, and the gorgeous grounds are perfect for morning or evening strolls.
  • Quality Inn & Suites offers a traditional meeting space with room for 50 guests and 53 guest rooms.

Additional venues, including community centers, church centers, and other spaces are also available. Get more information about group travel, meetings, and retreats.

What Else Can We Do During Our Retreat?

Part of the fun of hobbyist retreats is the chance to explore your destination. And Santa Claus, Indiana, and the sites throughout Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home offer a LOT to explore!

History buffs can visit Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum to learn about a young Abraham Lincoln’s years in Indiana. And Santa Claus Museum & Village invites visitors to discover stories of the town’s early days

Want to spend some time outdoors? Hit the trails on foot at Lincoln State Park … or by horseback at Santa’s Stables!

You’ll definitely want to do a little shopping while you’re here. Find festive seasonal décor at the Santa Claus Christmas Store and Evergreen Boutique & Christmas Shop. And grab a gift or two from Santa’s TOYS to take back home to the little ones.

Unwind after a long day of scrapbooking, quilting, or crafting, at one of the area’s wineries, Monkey Hollow Winery and Distillery and Pepper’s Ridge Winery.
