Indiana Bicentennial

Spencer County celebrated the state's 200th birthday!

Joy Zook carried the torch through part of Chrisney during the Spencer County relay. Crowds gathered in communities throughout Spencer County to watch the torch relay. Mayor Harney carried the torch from the Spencer County Courthouse, down the Ohio River Bluff to Lincoln Landing and sent it off in style. Torchbearer Lauren rode Crow's Nest with the Indiana Bicentennial Torch. Flying high with breath-taking views of southern Indiana, the state torch rode Crow's Nest at Holiday World. Holidog takes the torch from Torchbearer Lauren and carries it out of Holiday World to prepare for the next stop. As founder of the museum and long-time Spencer County resident, Mrs. Koch carried the torch through part of Santa Claus during its segment in Spencer County. Wayne Utley and Trae Truax, both torchbearers in Spencer County, pose during the hand off outside of Santa Claus. Selfie time! Torchbearer Steve Haaff stopped to take a quick selfie before carrying the torch through Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in Lincoln City. Sienna Crews and Amy Tempel both opted to run with the torch through parts of Spencer County. Torchbearer Lauren Crosby took the torch for a spin on Crow's Nest at Holiday World. The duo takes the torch from Holiday World and passed it to Bill with Pumpkins and More. Mr. Heeke rides a New Boston Fire Engine into Lincoln City with the Bicentennial Torch. Three soldiers fired shots to welcome the Bicentennial Torch to downtown Rockport. Long-time Chrisney resident, George Meece, carries the torch along Main Street. A torch in one hand and steering a tractor with the other, Bill from Pumpkins and More proudly serves as a torchbearer. Trae Truax carried the torch in honor of his mother, Annette Truax.
